OUR CHILDREN ARE WORTH MORE!
Due to State reductions in education funding California schools are facing a severe budget crisis.
On March 3, 2009, after millions of dollars in cuts,
Mt. Diablo Unified School District was forced to cut:
- Vice Principals for all elementary, most middle, and some high school campuses
- Funding for High School Sports
- All Fourth Grade Instrumental Music
- Middle and High School Librarians (9 out of 16)
- Custodial, Groundskeeping and Maintenance Staff
- School Psychologists
- 500+ teachers district-wide have been given pink slips, their fate is still unknown
- and more. . .
last two years alone, it is time to stand up and say enough is enough. It
is time to create a local funding source that helps provide a quality
education for our students. School districts throughout the State, and
this County, have local parcel tax funding for a portion of their general
fund revenue. A MDUSD parcel tax will allow more local control of
school funding.
On May 19th you will have an opportunity to vote . . .
YES on Measure D.Measure D is a $99 per year parcel tax, with a 5 year term, a
community oversight committee, and a restriction on the use of the
funds for administration salaries. Senior citizen exemption.
Please vote “YES” for the children in our community.
